Becoming an Architecture Minor Student

Acceptance Criteria - Architecture Minor

  • Minimum GPA of 2.000 overall.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.500 in two 100/200-level architecture courses.

Applications to the Architecture Minor are accepted on a rolling basis.

Becoming a University at Buffalo Student

Admission to UB is based on a holistic review. We consider high school average, class rank (where applicable), strength of the high school academic record and SAT or ACT scores. A personal essay, recommendations, documented creative talent, demonstrated leadership, community service and special circumstances are also considered. For the 2019 admitted freshman class, UB reported an average GPA range from 90-96, an average ACT score of 24-30 and an average SAT score of 1180-1350.
The following is not required for admission, but is suggested as adequate preparation for university-level coursework:

  • Four years of English (with a substantial writing component).
  • Four years of social studies.
  • Three years of college-preparatory science.
  • Three years of a second language.
  • Three years of college-preparatory mathematics.

Transfer Admission to the Program

Transfer students may apply for direct admission to the Architecture Minor contingent upon possible course articulation to University at Buffalo Architecture, in accordance with the School of Architecture and Planning’s Transfer Policy and must meet the following curricular requirements for continued enrollment:

  • Two 100/200-level architecture courses;
  • A minimum GPA of 2.500 in both 100/200-level architecture courses; and,
  • An overall transfer GPA of 2.000

No more than six credits of architecture transfer coursework may be applied toward Architecture Minor requirements. Contact School of Architecture and Planning Undergraduate Education for more information.

Current UB Students Applying to the Program

University at Buffalo students may apply for direct admission to the Architecture Minor and must meet the following curricular requirements for continued enrollment:

  • Two 100/200-level architecture courses;
  • A minimum GPA of 2.500 in both 100/200-level architecture courses; and,
  • An overall transfer GPA of 2.000

Applications for the Architecture Minor are accepted on a rolling basis.
