Exercise Science BS - Health Promotion Concentration - Program Requirements

(HEGIS: 08.35 PHYSICAL ED METHODOLOGY, CIP: 26.0908 Exercise Physiology)

Completing the Exercise Science BS - Health Promotion Concentration Program

Academic Requirements

The minimum requirements to complete the Exercise Science degree are:

  • Completion of all general education and UB curriculum requirements
  • Minimum overall and UB GPA of 2.000
  • Minimum major GPA of 2.000

All ES students must maintain a 2.000 GPA in required course work each semester. All students will be monitored each semester to ensure that they are making satisfactory academic progress in the major. Failure to maintain a cumulative UB GPA or ES major GPA ≥ 2.000 will result in the student receiving warnings, mandatory advising, and required completion of an academic workshop. Students who fail to maintain a cumulative UB GPA or ES major GPA ≥ 2.000 for three consecutive semesters will be removed from the major. Academic reviews are conducted following Fall and Spring semesters only. Courses repeated during the winter and/or summer are not factored into the review. Students must pass all required courses with a D or higher. A student who has been dismissed is not eligible for readmission into the major. The ES major GPA includes all required ES coursework in the major and is a cumulative GPA. The student's HUB Academic Advisement Report includes the ES major GPA.

Academic Advice

It is essential that students consult an academic advisor when making decisions related to their academic program. Students may contact an advisor from the Office for Academic and Student Affairs at (716) 829-5000 or email OASA.

Transfer Credit Policy

All prerequisite coursework taken at other institutions must articulate to UB as equivalent courses. Courses that do not articulate to UB will not satisfy requirements for the major. Refer to TAURUS for information on courses at other schools that are equivalent to UB courses.
