Becoming a Management Minor Student

Becoming a University at Buffalo Student

Admission to UB is based on a holistic review. We consider high school average, class rank (where applicable), strength of the high school academic record and SAT or ACT scores, if applicable. UB supports SUNY’s decision to temporarily suspend SAT and ACT requirements for admissions for the 2021-22 academic year. This temporary change of admissions eligibility requirements applies to the spring 2021, fall 2021 and spring 2022 cycles. A personal essay, recommendations, documented creative talent, demonstrated leadership, community service and special circumstances are also considered.

The following is not required for admission, but is suggested as adequate preparation for university-level coursework:

  • Four years of English (with a substantial writing component).
  • Four years of social studies.
  • Three years of college-preparatory science.
  • Three years of a second language.
  • Three years of college-preparatory mathematics.

Current UB Students Applying to the Program

Applicants to the School of Management minor program must be matriculating UB students in good academic standing who are in an approved major, have completed at least 60 credit hours and the minor prerequisite courses with a minimum overall GPA, UB GPA, and prerequisite GPA of 2.500. All prerequisite courses should be completed or in progress when applying for the minor.

Meeting the minimum application requirements does not guarantee admission. The program is competitive and only the top 75 fall applicants and the top 75 spring applicants will be admitted each year.

The Management minor is not available to students majoring in Business Administration, Accounting, or Information Technology and Management.

Current UB students in an approved non-management major may complete application for the management minor. Once accepted into the minor, you will take upper-division courses during your junior and/or senior years.

Academic performance in the freshman and sophomore courses is the main criterion for admission.
