Pharmaceutical Sciences BS/MS - Academic Experience

Students with scientific research experience are highly sought after by prospective employers. While enrolled in the BS portion of the program, all students are required to take PHC 498 Undergraduate Research, a 3-credit undergraduate research participation project. A laboratory, computer data analysis, or library research experience is an important and unique feature of our program.

While enrolled in the MS portion of the program, all students are required to take additional credits for graduate research. Students must attain satisfactory completion of a research project, which includes approval of the Project Committee after submission of a written project report, presentation of an open seminar, and oral defense.

The UB American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) Student Chapter is comprised of undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. The Pharmaceutical Sciences Graduate Student Association (PGSA) provides a voice for pharmaceutical sciences graduate students.

Students enrolled in the undergraduate level of the BS/MS program may participate in the departmental program honors during their senior year. Students completing the requirements for departmental program honors will have honors noted on transcripts as either:

With Highest Honors and Distinction (GPA of 3.750 to 4.000).
With High Honors and Distinction (GPA of 3.500 to 3.749)
With Honors and Distinction (GPA of 3.200 to 3.499)

Students enrolled in the undergraduate level of the BS/MS program may be awarded Program Distinction for the major. Students completing the requirements will have honors are noted on transcripts as either:

With Highest Distinction (GPA of 3.750 to 4.000).
With High Distinction (GPA of 3.500 to 3.749)
With Distinction (GPA of 3.200 to 3.499)
