The Pharmaceutical Sciences BS program was one of the first discipline specific undergraduate programs in the country, founded in the early 1960’s. The fundamental scientific principles of pharmaceutical sciences were pioneered here at UB. Our department has upheld a tradition of excellence with national and international distinction for over 50 years.
Students learn through small group classes, flipped classrooms, hybrid courses, group discussion, case studies, hands on laboratory experiments, hands on laboratory research projects, student scientific poster presentations, and computer data analysis using scientific software. Experiential education consists of a required undergraduate research project, where the capstone is submission of a student–written paper on the scientific research, and presentation of a scientific poster at our school’s poster day.
Class sizes range from one-on-one instruction, small groups (10-20), intermediate groups (40-50) and large groups (140-150).
