The pharmaceutical sciences BS program was one of the first discipline specific undergraduate programs in the country, founded in the early 1960’s. The fundamental scientific principles of pharmaceutical sciences were pioneered here at UB. Our department has upheld a tradition of excellence with national and international distinction for over 50 years.
Students learn through small group classes, flipped classrooms, hybrid courses, group discussion, case studies, hands-on laboratory experiments, hands-on laboratory research projects, student scientific poster presentations, and computer data analysis using scientific software. Experiential education consists of an optional undergraduate research project, in which the capstone is the submission of a scientific research paper and presentation of a scientific poster at our school’s poster day.
Class sizes range from one-on-one instruction, small groups (10-20), intermediate groups (40-50) and large groups (140-150).
