Students can be directly admitted to the program as incoming freshmen. Current UB students and incoming transfer students can be admitted upon application with at least a 2.0 GPA.
Admission to UB is based on a holistic review. We consider high school average, class rank (where applicable), strength of the high school academic record and SAT or ACT scores, if applicable. UB supports SUNY’s decision to temporarily suspend SAT and ACT requirements for admissions. This temporary change of admissions eligibility requirements applies to the spring 2021, fall 2021, spring 2022, fall 2022, spring 2023, fall 2023 and spring 2024 cycles. A personal essay, recommendations, documented creative talent, demonstrated leadership, community service and special circumstances are also considered.

All freshmen who select Philosophy, Politics and Economics BA on their UB application are listed as approved majors. New students will be contacted by the College of Arts and Sciences Student Advisement & Services office regarding initial course registration after paying their tuition deposit and completing the online Orientation Data Form.
Incoming transfer students can be admitted upon application with at least a 2.0 GPA.
