Completing the Speech and Hearing Science BA/Early Childhood Education EdM Program

Academic Requirements

To graduate, the student must have earned an overall GPA of 2.500 in CDS courses. CDS courses with a grade of less than C- will not be acceptable for the departmental average requirement and must be retaken for a grade of C- or better. Students may not elect S/U grading in CDS courses.

Academic Advice

To ensure that both University at Buffalo graduation requirements and New York State Education Department (NYSED) teacher certification requirements are completed in a timely manner, students are required to meet with both their primary advisor and Office of Educator Preparation advisor each semester.

To progress to the graduate portion of the program, students must maintain a 3.000 GPA, complete and submit their GRE or MAT scores, and complete an interview in the Office of Educator Preparation. Students must complete these progression points by March of junior year to be eligible to register for graduate level coursework. No formal application is required for graduate school.

Transfer Credit Policy

Courses from other institutions that have been previously evaluated in comparison to UB courses are listed on UB's course articulation TAURUS website. For courses not listed, students can submit a new request to TAURUS.

SUNY Seamless Transfer is a SUNY-wide program intended to make transferring to UB and other SUNY Schools simple and efficient for SUNY students. SUNY has defined courses that SUNY students can take before transferring which will apply to the major at UB and ensure timely graduation. Information about the Transfer Path for this major can be found on the SUNY website.

Students are encouraged to contact their academic advisor or department to discuss how their coursework will apply to their degree.
