Completing the Speech and Hearing Minor Program

Academic Requirements

The following are requirements for the CDS Minor:

  1. Minimum of C average for acceptance to the minor.
  2. Complete CDS introductory overview course, CDS 151 Introduction to Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, plus five additional CDS courses, which may include independent study, for a total of 18 credits. You may choose courses to meet your specific interests. These will be selected with guidance from a faculty mentor who must approve them.

Transfer Credit Policy

Courses completed at other institutions may be equivalent to CDS courses at the University at Buffalo. To have them evaluated, complete the course waiver or pre-approval petition form found on the CDS Department's website and submit it to the Department Main office in 122 Cary Hall.

CDS 151 Introduction to Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology
Five additional CDS courses, which may include independent study

UB Seminar courses cannot count towards minor requirements.

Total Credit Hours Required

Minors and certificates must be completed in conjunction with a major and all university degree requirements must be met.

Students should consult with an academic advisor to determine how any transfer or exam credit might be used in meeting general education, prerequisite, or major requirements.
