Academic Advice

The education minor consists of a minimum of 18 credits: two required courses (7 credits) and 11 credits of elective courses. The first course in the education minor, LAI 350, is an introductory course that provides a foundation for the other education coursework and includes field experiences. The remaining courses allow students to explore general educational issues and careers that span different aspects of education. The minor itself does not lead directly to initial teacher certification, however, there are particular courses that allow for a head start on the coursework needed and offered through the University at Buffalo's graduate-level initial and initial/professional teacher certification programs. For more information on which courses allow for a head start in the graduate level teacher certification programs, please contact the UB Teacher Education Institute (375 Baldy Hall, ubtei@buffalo.edu).

Transfer Credit Policy

As the education minor is 18 credits, transfer credits will be considered on a limited basis and limited to 3 undergraduate credits.
