Completing the Counseling Minor Program

Academic Requirements

Applicants must be matriculated students at the University at Buffalo in good academic standing who have a minimum overall grade point average of 2.5. Students must have completed at least 30 credit hours at the time of application. The prerequisite course (PSY 101) should be completed or in progress when applying for the minor. Students who meet these requirements are more likely to achieve success as they will have the requisite academic preparation and a more developed sense of career direction or interests to be able to make decisions about pursuing a Minor in Counseling.

Academic Advice

Although it is not required, students who are unsure about which academic minor to pursue may find it helpful to take the Career Planning course (CEP 202).

Please refer to the TAURUS website.

Residency Requirement

Twelve of the total credit hours must be acquired from UB.
