Academic Advice

Application should be made when the student has completed the prerequisite courses or during the semester in which they will be completed.

Students who demonstrate proficiency in Korean at any of the required levels may have the corresponding language course requirements waived. These waived language courses will not count toward the minor but must be replaced with other Korean language or Korean language-related courses to bring the total number of courses to six and the minimum total number of credits to 18.

Students with prior Korean language proficiency should consult with the program director to arrange an appropriate program.

Transfer Credit Policy

Due to the fact that relatively few students arrive at UB having taken a significant number of Korean courses, the Department of Linguistics does not have specific transfer credit policies. The possibility of transfer credits can be discussed on a case-by-case basis with the program director.

Prerequisite Courses

KOR 101-KOR 102 Elementary Korean I-II (or equivalent proficiency)

Required Courses

KOR 201-KOR 202 Second-Year Korean
