Completing the Health and Human Services Minor Program

Academic Requirements

Minimum GPA of 2.000 overall in the minor.
Minimum GPA of 2.000 in the minor's required course: SSC 103

Academic Advice

A total of 12 of the 18 credits in the Health and Human Services minor must be 300- or 400-level. 

All classes completed in the minor will be used to calculate the minor GPA.  Students must maintain a 2.000 GPA in the minor.

No more than two 300- or 400-level courses may be used to satisfy credit requirements in the student’s major, other minors, or programs. Students may substitute one course with a non-SSC course. The substitute course must come from the list approved by the program staff. SSC 103 is not eligible for substitution.

Transfer Credit Policy

All transfer courses officially articulated to UB courses in the Health and Human Services minor are eligible to fulfill minor requirements.  However, at least 50 percent of coursework toward the minor (i.e., 9 credits) must be completed at UB.

Residency Requirement

At least 50 percent of the coursework for the minor must be completed at UB.

Prerequisite Courses

Students must complete the pre-requisite with a minimum grade of "C" in order to be accepted into the minor:

SSC 103: Introduction to Health & Human Services

5 additional SSC courses from the following list, at least 4 of which must be at the 300- or 400-level

Note: Students may substitute one of their 5 electives with one of the following courses.  UB Seminar courses cannot count toward minor requirements:

Minors and certificates must be completed in conjunction with a major and all university degree requirements must be met.
