The Learning Environment
Offered in a one or two-year sequence, the program prepares nurses to provide the necessary leadership to advance quality of care, patient safety, and health services in an evolving health care system.
- Student-centered and user-friendly distance learning/asynchronous format that allows practicing nurses to attend school while maintaining employment.
- To ensure cost-effectiveness and facilitate achievement of learning outcomes, students may enroll in spring, summer, or fall.
- Relevant coursework that builds on the licensed RN's previous education and experience without redundancy while mirroring the current traditional BS nursing program curriculum.
About Our Facilities
The School of Nursing offers fully equipped health assessment, nursing skills, and simulation labs. Individualized teaching, coaching, and practice opportunities are provided by faculty and teaching assistants from our graduate student body.
The simulation labs feature state-of-the-art patient simulators in both a virtual operating room that is connected to patient monitors, and one that simulates ambulatory and acute nursing situations.
The Center for Nursing Research (CNR) houses a research library and is a repository for information on internal and external sources of funding, including guidelines and application forms.
A range of educational technology resources include a wide variety of health-care databases, computer assisted instruction, and electronic resources.
The School of Nursing offers a number of services to support our remote RN-BSN students, including online advising appointments, access to the online library resources and appointments with the virtual librarian, and course materials via the UBLearns blackboard platform. IT support is available during regular business hours. All online students still have access to the University's on-campus resources as well.
