The purpose of this course is to provide the student with a multidisciplinary foundation in the principles of diabetes management. The student will develop their knowledge and ability to assess, manage, educate and monitor patients with diabetes. The contributing faculty are outstanding educators and practitioners from the fields of pharmacy, nursing, medicine, behavioral psychology, dietetics, and exercise physiology. All of the course faculty have professional practices and help patients manage their diabetes. The course, developed under the guidance of the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy faculty members, is internet based and requires the students to learn independently. Students will be provided with a course outline and suggested dates by which modules should be completed and attend several discussion sessions throughout the semester.
